NEW YEAR 2022 MATH PUZZLES
For all new year’s day math activities, you can use the number 2022 as the math number.
1. Can you write an equation that results in the number 2022 ?
Can you write an arithmetic equation that results in the number 2022 using only the digits 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 in that order? You can only use the four basic mathematical operators (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). You are also allowed to use as many parentheses as you like. 2. THE YEAR PUZZLE 2022
Do you remember the most popular Four Four’s puzzle I did along with my kids last year? Can you write an equation for all the numbers from 1 to 10 using only the digits in the current year, i.e. 2022, in a similar way to the 4 4’s puzzle?
For example, we can write the digit 1 as 2 + 0 – ( 2 / 2) , similarly we can write the dig as 2 + 0 + 2 – 2 and so on
There are certain rules to follow
- You can only use the digits 2, 0, 2, 2.
- All four digits must be used in the expression.
- You can use the four digits in any order.
- You can use the operators +, -, x, /, ^ ( raised to a power ), factorial and square root, as well as parantheses.
I hope you had fun solving these math puzzles and activities based on the new year. Please do share it with others so that they can also enjoy doing them too! Don’t forget to print out the free New Year coloring pages from our printable library resources as well. Happy New Year 2022 everyone!

These are such clever ideas! I’m going to give these to my family and see if we can solve them 🙂
While my son is still too young for most of these ideas, we’re doing the math games from ABC Mouse regularly. I will surely remember your suggestions for later in his process!
This is fun! I am going to do some of these with my kids when we start our homeschool up again next week. Thanks.
I hope your kids will enjoy doing these puzzles. You can also find more critically thinking puzzles on my blog, I hope you will give them a try.
